The justice when done by this deity punishes liars, thieves and criminals.
Its symbol is the two bladed axe and it remembers a man carrying fire on his head. In Bahia, the faithful people wear necklaces of red and white beads.
Xangô corresponds to St. Jerome in the cultural religions of Brazil.
